Tokunbo Pedro took Nigeria to the 15th spot out of the 22 countries that participated at the World Junior Masters in Las Vegas, U.S… recently.

Nigeria’s sole entry to the World Junior Masters held in Las Vegas, U.S, Tokunbo Pedro, could not mount the podium at the end of the championship. He grossed 84 to place Nigeria in the 15th position out of the 22 countries that participated in the event.

On the opening round Pedro shot a score of 78 and ended on 71 on the second day and a closing 84.

According to Nigeria Golf Federation’s (NGF) Secretary General, Taiwo Oriss, who attended the championship, “We should commend Pedro because he put up a fair and encouraging performance. Being the only player to carry the hopes of a nation is not an easy task.”

Oriss revealed, “Pedro felt very sad at the end of the day, but we must give him a pat in the back because he has been doing very well in other championship and the federation still needs him.”

The NGF, according to Oriss, planned to send more players, including homeboy, Godsmark Isife, Muyiwa Oguntola, Fadeyi George, Georgia Oboh and Anita Uwadiae, to the championship, but it could not muster the resources for the venture.
