Zalgiris Kaunas has reached a new agreement with Edgaras Ulanovas to extend his contract for two more years, the club announced Tuesday. Zalgiris keeps an option to keep Ulanovas for one more year, until the end of the 2018-19 season. Ulanovas (1.97 meters, 24 years old) comes off a solid Turkish Airlines Euroleague season with Zalgiris, averaging 6.3 points on 87.5% free throw shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 2 assists in 24 games, starting them all. Ulanovas played for several Lithuanian clubs such as Aisciai, Triobet, Zalgiris Sabonio, Baltai, Pieno Zvaigzdes, Lietkabelis and Neptunas before joining Zalgiris in 2014. He helped Zalgiris win the Lithuanian double - league and cup titles - last season and already lifted the Lithuanian Cup trophy with Zalgiris this season. "He is improving, and in basketball, it is very important not to be afraid of making mistakes," head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius said. "Ulanovas and Vecvagars are precisely players who play aggressive, with no fear, players with character. Playing in the Euroleague was a huge lesson for them this season."
