Former Sunderland star Micky Gray has come out in defence of Darron Gibson after he was filmed criticising his team-mates. The video, which circulated on social media, appears to show the former Everton midfielder in a heated discussion with fans on Saturday night - just hours after their 5-0 pre-season friendly defeat to Celtic . The Republic of Ireland star suggested some of his team-mates do not share the same desire to represent the Black Cats. But in a series of tweets, former Black Cats favourite Gray felt Gibson was at least showing some passion. He said: “At last we have a lad at our club who is honest about what a mess it is. Players don’t want to be there so get rid of them. Well said Gibbo. “And for those lads who videoed him.. what a set of k***s.... he wasn’t on duty so leave him be. No wonder players don’t connect anymore. “Get over the result against Celtic... it’s a pre-season game. What matters is Friday so let’s get behind Grayson and show your support as you always do. “This isn’t going to get better overnight.. the place is a shambles right now but your support goes a long way. “Well done Gibbo for speaking to those idiots who should never have been videoing you.” Sunderland kick off their Championship season against Derby County on Friday night.
